Jerry Sloan OUT – Resigns as Head Coach of the Jazz

Bam! This one came out of left field. KSL is reporting that Jerry Sloan and his long time assistant Frank Layden will step down later today at a press conference. This post does not do Jerry Sloan justice. A coach who has led the Jazz franchise on a storied existence over the past 20 years. I view Jerry Sloan as one of the great coaches in this sport. He goes right up there with Greg Popovich, King Zen, and Larry Brown. Lets hope the Jazz know what they are doing. It looks like this resignation may be in retaliation for a “heated” relationship that has finally boiled over with the Jazz GM Kevin O’Connor. Lebasketbawl has heard that Larry Brown has already called regarding the opening 🙂
