Regulars here at the house that “New York Vinnie Built” Le Basketbawl realize how much I love My Boys the New York Knicks. Outside of New York Vinnie’s Doll and my family the Knicks are one of the most important things in my life. When the Knicks are playing well New York Vinnie is a very happy man; unfortunately that has not happened too often over the last few years.
Knicks Team Owner James Dolan or as New York Vinnie refers to him as “El Douche” decided to put his franchise’s future in hands of Isiah Thomas. After four years of having Zeke at the helm it may be until 2020 for this team to be a realistic competitor for an NBA Title. Thomas made some of the worst moves not only in the team’s history but possibly in the entire history of the NBA. He brought in players with bad attitudes; some had talent but their liabilities far out weighed any Frickin help they brought to the team.
Some of these Frickin PUDS will most likely be stuck with the Knicks for a while. Others like Quentin Richardson and Zach Randolph thankfully are some other Frickin team’s headaches now. And according to the “New York Post” the guy who could be the “Poster Boy” for the Zeke Thomas era in the “Big Apple” will sit this upcoming season out and attempt a come back next season. Whether he can make it back next year remains to be seen; however if this was his final chapter in his NBA career he went out with some major Frickin fireworks.
Stephon Marbury who finished the season this spring with the Boston Celtics told the paper that he was most likely going to sit the upcoming season out and then attempt a comeback in the 2010-2011 season. “Starbury” reportedly was given just one offer this summer a one year contract by Boston for $1.3 million and turned it down. He told the paper that he was not retiring but taking the year off to work on his business and make his come back next fall.
New York Vinnie is not a fan of “Starbury” and I am very happy he is no longer on the New York roster. Marbury represents all that is bad in today’s NBA in New York Vinnie’s opinion. He is negative, surly, selfish and plays for the name on the back of the jersey not the one in the front.
That being said New York Vinnie thought that the comments that the former Knicks guard made about the current regime at MSG actually made some sense. The comments echoed a lot of things that New York Vinnie has been writing over the last couple of months. You know just because a guy is a Frickin PUD does not mean he can’t actually make any Frickin sense, right? Even a broken clock is correct two times a day.
When Stephon was asked about his thoughts on this edition of his former club he was not what you would call complimentary. Marbury said “I’m just talking as a fan and New Yorker who grew up loving the Knicks; why would I give you my money to watch them? This is atrocious. Guys coming down court, just raising up 3-pointers from anywhere. The coaching is horrible. What kind of coaching is this? If they shoot like that in the game, imagine how they shoot in practice. New Yorkers deserve better decisions form the front office and New York City has to deal with this mess.”
Now there is a lot of bad blood between Marbury and Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni and that comes into play in these comments. Marbury came into camp last year in incredible shape and was playing fantastic in the preseason. But the Knicks offered a buyout and “Starbury” refused to take it saying you want to cut me pay me what you owe me. The Knicks let him rot at home for most of the year until they worked out an agreement just before the trade deadline. He then signed as a Free Agent with the Celtics but was never really a factor.
However is what Marbury is saying in this interview true? Unfortunately a lot of it is Frickin spot on. Marbury was asked his thoughts about LeBron James signing next summer with the Knicks. He replied “LeBron isn’t coming to a rebuilding team. Why would he come to a rebuilding team? It makes no sense. Is this franchise built to win a championship or to make money?”
Again this is what New York Vinnie has been telling you for months; LeBron James has a team that is poised to win in Cleveland. Why would he leave that to come play for a Frickin team that is as Marbury says a mess? Stephon; New York Vinnie does not like you anymore today than last week. However My Man the statements you make are pretty on base.
