Powe On Verge Of Signing With Cleveland?

When You were a kid did you ever play that old board game STRATEGO ? New York Vinnie loved that game and played it for many hours as a child. The object of the game to put it simply was to out-wit your opponent and take over the Frickin World! Sometimes when you see two really good NBA teams adding players to their mix to keep up with their opponent I am reminded of playing that game as a kid. Right now there is a pretty Frickin good game of STRATEGO going on between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. And it appears Cleveland is about to make their next Frickin move!
”ESPN.com” is reporting that former Boston Celtics big man Leon Powe will sign a two year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers said to be worth $1.77 million. The contract is supposed to be guaranteed for the first season and that Cleveland would have the option to pick up the second year of the pact. Now according to their sources Powe was in Cleveland on Tuesday getting his left knee looked at by team doctors. Powe went down hard in game two of the first round of the NBA Playoffs as Boston played against the Chicago Bulls. He was lost for the rest of the season as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.
Powe is a player when he is healthy. He took on a big role with Boston after they lost Kevin Garnett due to injury. If Powe is able to come back to what he was before he got hurt and can accomplish the same things in a Cavaliers uniform he would turn into quite a valuable asset for his new team. Lack of front-court depth was Cleveland’s main problem in the Eastern Conference Finals against Orlando. Putting Powe on the roster would do quite a lot to shore up the Cavaliers front line core.
Last month Boston brought in free agent veteran big man Rasheed Wallace and Powe was no longer a needed part for the Celtics. If Cleveland can bring him into the fold along with Shaquille O’Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao and Jamario Moon Cleveland will have a pretty Frickin potent front-court. You would have to look at as the Cavaliers and the Celtics as the front runners heading into next season in the East.
