Nets Name Kiki As King Of Bench For Balance Of Season

The “New York Daily News” reported Monday that New Jersey Nets General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe will become interim coach of the team after the Nets dismissed former head coach Lawrence Frank this past Sunday. Vandeweghe even though he has never coached before in the NBA was considered to be the leading candidate for the position mainly because he was already under contract.
Vanderweghe will not be coaching the team until Friday so the Nets will most likely have assistant coach Tom Barrise lead the club against Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. Barrise was at the helm Sunday when the Nets lost to the Lakers putting them in a three way tie for the worst start in NBA history. A loss to Dallas would give them the infamous title of “Worst Start of All Time.”
Nets Team President Rod Thorn was asked what was it about Vandeweghe that gave him the confidence to give him his first head coaching gig in the NBA. Thorn responded “I think Kiki because of his knowledge. I think Kiki because of his personality. I think Kiki because of his ability to work with young players, to get the best out of young players, he’s a natural for this job. He will continue with the development of our young players. I think he will be an excellent teacher and coach for this team.”

New York Vinnie will never start a fight, but he's not afraid to finish one.. Mess with New York Vinnie and he'll rip your nuts off and throw them down the sewer!

nice piece on kiki. U almost convinced me. But alas this team stinks…even a coach with the cute name kiki has no chance with this D-league roster.

Yo Kobe;
New York Vinnie is no more convinced than you are that Kiki-V is the solution with the Nets. As New York Vinnie wrote in the article My Man his greatest qualification may have been that he was already on the Frickin payroll. But it is fitting that he gets the team he assembled to see if he can make anything out of them. The way New York Vinnie sees it The Nets have three legit talents on that team two of whom are just getting over injuries in Lee and Harris. New York Vinnie said before Lopez was drafted he would be more effective in the NBA than he was at Stanford and so far I have looked pretty good on that one. But you need more than that to even make it into the Post Season never mind banging with the Celtics, Cavaliers and Magic!
