Mark Cuban is a very savvy man that is most likely how he became so successful. Earlier this summer New York Vinnie wrote a column on a funny remark that the Dallas Mavericks Team Owner made about one of his departing players. It tickled New York Vinnie so I figured I would share it with you my daily readers.

Cuban the night the article went on line e-mailed a comment on the story. It was just a simple gesture but it touched New York Vinnie that he made the connection. If more people in this Great Nation of ours took the time out to do something nice like that think of how much better a Country we would be! As New York Vinnie wrote at the top it is things like that that has probably made him the successful businessman and Team Owner that he is. It also brought him a ton of Good Will towards him from New York Vinnie! My Man has a lot of rope before he hangs himself in this corner.

Another thing that New York Vinnie likes about Mark Cuban is he does not mince words. When he has something on his mind he will let you know it. Subsequently it has landed him in some pretty hot water with “The Great And Powerful One“ NBA Commissioner David Stern.

The “Dallas Morning News” has reported that My Man Cuban is none too happy right now with veteran forward James Singleton. Singleton was given a qualifying offer by Dallas for the veteran minimum heading into his fourth season after having his best season as a pro player with the Mavericks this past season. Singleton is dragging his feet deciding whether or not to accept the offer. Meanwhile Cuban wants the player to take a dump or get off the pot if you catch my drift.

Singleton who played his first two years in the league with the Los Angeles Clippers is worried about minutes if he takes the offer from Dallas. He said “Their roster is pretty full right now. It’s about situations and where you fit in best. Several teams out there wanted to sign me to the same thing the Mavs want me to. If they think I’m holding out for more money, that’s not what I’m doing. And if I do return, they know what I’m going to give them. Hopefully, things will get squared away in the next week or two.”

Okay the problem is that Cuban wants the situation resolved; like yesterday. The Mavericks Owner responded “The fact that he hasn’t to this point has us a little upset. It means he is looking for any deal he can find, dragging us along rather than committing to us knowing that with the second year under his belt, he becomes an early-bird free agent next year.  If he doesn’t want to be here, we would rather he just revoke the qualifier and become a full free agent.”

Okay James My Man; take some advice from Your Old Pal New York Vinnie. If you truly have another offer from another team I would advise you to take it Pronto. Because it does not take too much reading between the lines here to see that you have worn out your welcome. If you do not have another offer New York Vinnie would advise you to be on the phone making sure your agent is accepting that deal with Dallas first thing Tuesday morning!
