The “Indianapolis Star” spoke with New York Vinnie’s favorite center in the NBA Greg “Pops” Oden earlier this week and the man we like to call “MR. RICKETS” is pumped up about the upcoming season. The fragile pivot-man told the paper “This is going to be a big year. Everybody comes in and has that first year, that get-used-to-the-league year. But you have to break out in your second year. You have to, and that’s what I’m looking forward to. I definitely have to show them that I’m here, and that I am the guy you guys drafted.”

Well New York Vinnie admires Oden’s positive attitude. There is an old saying that a positive attitude leads to positive results! However there is another old saying the mind is willing but the flesh is weak! New York Vinnie agrees that the word Break will figure prominently in “MR. RICKETS” season. But it will be what part of his body Breaks that puts him back on the injured list.

New York Vinnie does believe that “Pops” Oden does have skills but he does not have durability! You can have all the Frickin talent in the world but it don’t mean squat if you can’t get off the Frickin bench due to injury. If “MR. RICKETS” was playing back in the day with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Oden would get hurt if Kareem just stared at him too hard!

Now New York Vinnie is no dope! I realize as Portland fan is reading this their is steam coming out your ears! But instead of telling New York Vinnie that he is an Imbecile tell me why I should believe any differently? “MR. RICKETS” got hurt the year he played for Ohio State missed his rookie season with the Blazers and got hurt and lost more time last season. Just by the odds and probability alone New York Vinnie has a better chance of being correct than you do!

Bottom line is this; New York Vinnie has no hate for “MR. RICKETS” the Portland Trail Blazers or their fans. It is not New York Vinnie’s fault that the thoroughbred Kevin Pritchard thought he was drafting is ready for the Glue Factory! Unfortunately for Blazers fans there is no “Lemon Law” for centers like there is on cars. You can’t get your money back.
