Marquis Will Be On Shelf For Eight Weeks After Surgery On Thumb

The Boston Celtics back-court will have less depth for about the next two months according to reports from the “Associated Press.” Celtics veteran guard Marquis Daniels underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. Although there has been no formal announcement from the club on how long Daniels will be out an unidentified source states that he is expected to miss the next eight weeks.
Daniels is now in his seventh season in the NBA; he signed a Free Agent contract with the Celtics this off-season after playing for the Indiana Pacers the last three years. He had previously played three years for the Dallas Mavericks. Daniels was brought into help fill the void that the team had last season after they lost James Posey to the New Orleans Hornets in the Summer of 2008. Daniels had played 19 games for the Celtics this season coming off the bench and averaged 5.7 points, 2.1 assists and 2 rebounds per game.
