Is Rajon Ready For The All-Star Team?

As New York Vinnie was checking out the NBA on Friday I jumped on the “Boston Globe” website. If you spent even a small amount of time at the “House That New York Vinnie Built” Le Basketbawl you can probably figure out that I am not in any way, shape or form a Boston fan. However New York Vinnie did predict last summer that the Boston Celtics would win the NBA Finals next June and the early returns do back me up.
The Celtics will have one player in the NBA East All-Star Team starting line-up which is chosen by the fans. That will be as it has been for the last two seasons Boston big man Kevin Garnett. Now last season two of his teammates joined him on the squad; guard Ray Allen and forward Paul Pierce were chosen by the NBA coaches as reserves. However this article was talking about the possibility of another Celtics player making the team; Boston point guard Rajon Rondo.
Now Rondo will not be voted onto the team by the fans; at the present time Miami guard Dwyane Wade has received the most votes of any Eastern Conference player. Orlando Magic veteran Vince Carter is currently second in the voting and Rondo is pretty far down the list as far as votes are concerned. But does Rajon Rondo deserve to make the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team as a reserve?
New York Vinnie would have to say absolutely yes Rondo belongs on that team. The Boston guard leads the entire Eastern Conference in assists as he is averaging 9.5 per game. His closest competitor is Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James who is averaging 8.0 assists per game. In New York Vinnie’s eyes that is a pretty Frickin impressive statistic.
Rajon Rondo is the fourth scoring option on the Boston Celtics yet he is still averaging 12.0 points per game. Now Derrick Rose and Mo Williams both score a lot more than Rondo does but they are far higher up on the offensive pecking order than Rondo is for their teams. And they come no where close to the Celtics guard when it comes to assists.
New York Vinnie has written this before; the Celtics “Big Three” of Garnett, Allen and Pierce get most of the attention in Boston. However it is Rondo that drives the bus and gets the ball into the right guy’s hands at the perfect moment. That in New York Vinnie’s mind is the perfect definition of an “NBA point guard.” So in New York Vinnie’s opinion Rajon Rondo should be an NBA All-Star this season.

New York Vinnie will never start a fight, but he's not afraid to finish one.. Mess with New York Vinnie and he'll rip your nuts off and throw them down the sewer!
