Hey Reinsdorf! How Come Ben Gordon “Didn’t Fit” on The Bulls?

New York Vinnie learned a lot of years ago there is nobody on this planet that is perfect! We all make mistakes right? What you hope to do though is to learn from the mistakes you make so you don’t make the same ones again! Well New York Vinnie has the feeling that Chicago Bulls Team owner Jerry Reinsdorf must have taken that Frickin day off from school. Because he sure didn’t learn his Frickin lesson!
Reinsdorf once had paradise right in the Frickin palm of his hand and he allowed it to slip away! Do you remember what happened after the Jordan-era Bulls won their sixth NBA Title? They allowed the team to split up they did not re-sign coach Phil Jackson which led to Michael’s second retirement from the NBA.
Now the 2008-2009 Chicago Bulls were not going to challenge any of the records of Jordan, Pippen and Grant but they had something going on in their back-court. And the only reason they discovered it was due to injuries! After Larry Hughes and Kirk Hinrich went down Chicago turned to Ben Gordon and he and rookie Derrick Rose created magic!
Gordon whose career was on the rocks heading into the season had instant chemistry with the rookie. Pretty soon Hughes was traded to the Knicks and not long after that Chicago picked up John Salmons and Brad Miller from the Kings and made the Playoffs. The Bulls lost in the first round against the Boston Celtics but they took Boston to 7 games and Gordon was the leading scorer. It looked like the future was bright heading into the following season!
But Gordon who was a free agent signed with the Detroit Pistons walking away from the chemistry and what appeared to be the back-court of the future. Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf must be pretty upset wouldn’t you think? Well according to the Chicago Sun-Times Reinsdorf is not bothered in the least by the defection! In fact the Bulls are quite pleased.
Reinsdorf spoke with reporters earlier this week on the state of the Bulls. This is what the team owner said about Gordon “Actually, we made a decision a year ago not to commit long term to Ben. We tried, and he turned it down. Then, near the end, [now GM] Gar Forman and John [Paxson] decided it probably wasn’t a good idea to make a long-term decision. We wanted to see what other options might develop. So we withdrew the offer [six years, $54 million] we had on the table. Ben ultimately said he would take it, but it was too late.
Now, fast forward to the end of the year, we have [John] Salmons and we have a hell of a three-guard rotation with [Kirk] Hinrich and Derrick [Rose]. Ben wasn’t going to get a whole lot of playing time. [It] was going to be diminished. So Ben really no longer fit. Ben’s a terrific player. But Ben needs minutes. He would not have been happy with the minutes he was going to get.”
So in other words Jerry the resurrection of your team this past season meant nothing? You are willing to bank on an inconsistent often injured player Kirk Hinrich to do what he has yet to accomplish in the NBA. Play well consistently and injury free! How realistic do you think that is Jerry?
So what Reinsdorf is telling his fans that a player who averaged 20.7 points and 3.4 assists per game could not fit on his Frickin team! Jerry do you have any idea how stupid that makes you sound? Jerry always remember one thing that New York Vinnie will leave you with. Just because you have money you are not disqualified from being a PUD! You are just a RICH PUD!

New York Vinnie will never start a fight, but he's not afraid to finish one.. Mess with New York Vinnie and he'll rip your nuts off and throw them down the sewer!
