The Hornets were over the luxury tax line and they had to shed salary. They saved $8 million by doing this trade, which is a lot more than Rasual Butler is worth. Sure, they're banking on Morris Peterson being able to contribute well as a starter again, but Jeff Bower was between a rock and a hard place. I think he did very well considering. Not a bad trade.
