Hasn’t New Orleans Seen Enough Destruction? Now The Hornets?
Regular readers of the “House That New York Vinnie Built” Le Basketbawl are well aware that New York Vinnie truly is a Rabid New York Knicks fan. New York Vinnie has not had a lot to root for in many Frickin years and it does not look too promising in the immediate future but that’s just part of being a true fan! You don’t abandon ship when your Frickin team hits choppy waters unless you are just a Frickin front runner!
Although New York Vinnie always roots for the Knicks there have been times over the years that an intriguing team from the Western Conference has caught my interest. If they play My Boys the Knicks I want them to lose but other times when I watch their games on the NBA Package I root for them. There is no true loyalty on New York Vinnie’s part there is no passion and it is temporary. It can be sparked a player on the team, a style of play or an Underdog overachieving!
The team that had New York Vinnie’s interest the last couple of seasons has been the New Orleans Hornets. The season before last they took the NBA by storm winning their Division and Byron Scott was named NBA Coach Of The Year. That team had it going on as the best Frickin point guard in all of Basketball Chris Paul had a magical season! Along with David West and a resurrected Tyson Chandler the team was fun and exciting to watch!
Last season the team still played well but not to the same level as the season before. Chandler was hurt and the Hornets tried to trade him to the Oklahoma City Thunder but he failed a physical. The Hornets were knocked out early in the Playoffs and went home disappointed.
Earlier this Summer the team did trade Tyson Chandler to the New Orleans Bobcats for Emeka Okafor. Personally New York Vinnie would not have made that trade but he could see the logic behind it. However the Hornets made a trade earlier this week which New York Vinnie believes was a straight dump of salary on a player who was a starter for New Orleans last season.
The Hornets according to the “Times-Picayune” traded Rasual Butler to the Los Angeles Clippers for a conditional second round NBA Draft pick in the year 2016. Yes you read that correctly a Conditional Second Round Draft Pick in 2016! Conditional means they may not even get it that year! For a guy who started on your Frickin team last year?
Butler expressed his thoughts about the deal on Twitter. He wrote “One chapter ends and another begins! Gonna MISS the Hornets. I am excited about being a Clipper! Thanks N.O. for all the support u guys gave me! Thank u to all those who have welcomed me to L.A.!!!!”
New York Vinnie thinks that Butler is a class guy after reading that statement! He did not burn a bridge My Man handled it well! Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower spoke with reporters after the deal. He said “We’re going to continue looking at many things and continue to work on our roster. And we will, up until we open camp. We’ll be looking at ways to improve our team and continue to have flexibility to do the things we feel will help improve our team.”
Jeff My Man in New York Vinnie’s neighborhood what you said there we call Frickin Crappola! How does this Frickin move help your Frickin team? Don’t spit in New York Vinnie’s face and tell me it is raining if you catch my drift! New York Vinnie sees a team that looked legit two years ago looking like an also ran right now. You have lost this NBA fan’s interest My Man. Maybe this next season New York Vinnie will start rooting for his old buddy Robbo’s team the Dallas Mavericks. However Jeff it will not be your team that New York Vinnie can assure you!

New York Vinnie will never start a fight, but he's not afraid to finish one.. Mess with New York Vinnie and he'll rip your nuts off and throw them down the sewer!

Not a bad trade. The Hornets were over the luxury tax line and they had to shed salary. They saved $8 million by doing this trade, which is a lot more than Rasual Butler is worth. Sure, they’re banking on Morris Peterson being able to contribute well as a starter again, but Jeff Bower was between a rock and a hard place. I think he did very well considering.

Yo Niall,
You and New York Vinnie will agree to disagree on this one My Man! Mo Pete’s best days are long behind him. Bower looked at last season and saw the glass half empty where as New York Vinnie saw it as half full. Chandler was hurt, CP-3 had to have been tired all year after plaing in the Beijing games. I would have kept the team as was at least through the start of the season
