Le Basketbawl

Back in late Spring of last year New York Vinnie was getting pretty excited about My Boys the New York Knicks. After a long period of suffering Team Owner James Dolan had finally wised up and got rid of Isiah Thomas or as we call him in my neighborhood “The Man Who Sent The Knicks Back To The Stone Age!” Dolan brought in a very respected veteran executive Donnie Walsh from Indiana and Knicks fans thought that the nightmare had ended. Well here it is one year later and New York Vinnie is really not sure that it has!

The Philadelphia Daily News has reported that Walsh has had conversations with the Philadelphia 76ers about a sign and trade deal that would send Philadelphia veteran point guard Andre Miller to New York. Yes that is correct Mr. Walsh wants to bring in a 33 year old point guard making big money to be the quarterback to a bunch of bums!

 So New York Vinnie has a question for Mr. Walsh with all due respect. What are you Frickin thinking Donnie? Why do you bring in a piece for a contending team when your club is nowhere close to contending. Why would you even consider a guy that will have long hung up his sneakers before your team has a prayer of being anything close to legitimate?

Now don’t get me wrong New York Vinnie has nothing but respect and admiration for ‘Dre Miller! He is one of the more underrated players in the NBA and seems to be a quality guy and a team player. But Donnie for crying out loud he is 33 years old! Look at your roster Donnie who do you have that can play at Andre Miller’s level? Andre Miller on the Knicks would be like having new seat-covers put on a car with no engine. Or like putting Frickin lipstick on a Frickin pig. With or without Miller My Boys will not do well this season!  So why bring him in?

Andre Miller would be a great addition to a Cleveland or a Boston teams that are right on the edge. And for the classy way he has conducted himself in his career he should get a ring before he retires. But that will not happen anytime in New York. So Donnie New York Vinnie’s advice is build for the future concentrate  on kids! Not veterans who have just a little left in the tank!
