Sixers Smith Could Miss Season After Tearing ACL
The Philadelphia 76ers had very high hopes for their young center Jason Smith after his performance in the Las Vegas Summer League last month. Smith who played in 76 games in his rookie season, was a dominant force in Las Vegas as he averaged 18.6 points, 5 rebounds per game ins five contests. Well all the excitement that the Sixers had as Smith approached his second year in the Association, has been put on hold. The “Associated Press” reported Friday that Philadelphia 76ers center Jason Smith could miss the entire upcoming season after tearing his ACL in his left knee on Wednesday. Smith who completed his rookie season recently, was hurt while playing in an Association approved camp in Las Vegas. There was no contact that led to the injury. Smith will have a second opinion on his injured knee before he and the Sixers decide what course of action to take. The mostly likely scenario with a torn ACL is surgery, which could Smith out of action for the entire season.
