Cavaliers Receive Mo Williams in Three Team Swap
The details of the trade according to the reports have Cleveland sending guard Damon Jones to Milwaukee, and veteran forward Joe Smith will go to the team now located in Oklahoma City. The Bucks will receive guard Luke Ridnour, and forward Adrian Griffin from OKC, Oklahoma City will also get forward Desmond Mason in the swap.
Cleveland had a deep interest in trading for Bucks shooting guard Michael Redd who appeared to be on the trading block earlier this off-season. Word out of Milwaukee is that the new regime of General Manager John Hammond, and new head coach Scott Skiles, now want to keep All-Star Michael Redd on the roster, which in turn made Williams available.
Williams was a second round pick by the Utah Jazz in the 2003 NBA Draft. He has been with the Bucks since the 2004-2005 campaign. He averaged 17.2 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 66 games (all starts) this past season. This move was a major pickup for Cleveland. According to my sources in Cleveland the Cavaliers still have a strong interest in retaining restricted free agent Delonte West. If they can re-sign the guard who was one of the most consistent players for Cleveland in the post season, they will have a very respectable roster in their back-court rotation.
