Brandon. Roy. Wow.
25 points. 11 assists. 6 rebounds. 2 steals. 1 block. 0 TURNOVERS. This kid just keeps proving how great he truly is and will continue to be. The Blazers faced off against the Bulls tonight in what turned out to be quite the match-up. Two overtimes later and another dominant performance down the stretch by your reigning Rookie of the Year and the Blazers chalked up another win; make that 15 out of 16!
The current streak this young team (youngest in the NBA) is on has seen its share of players step up from time to time to deliver and help the cause, but there is one constant, and that is Mr. Roy. If you don’t love this kid yet, then you need to wake your @$# up!
I am fortunate enough to live in Portland and have had several chances to see him play over the last two years, and to see the change in his play from last year to this year is remarkable. He was obviously solid last year by winning the R.O.Y., but his game is at a whole other level this year. If he continues his current dominance, he will go down as one of the great closers we will have the priviledge of watching.
B-Roy may not ever be a 30 pts/game player like a Kobe, Lebron, or D-Wade, but teams will start to fear his poise and rock solid play night in and night out. This might just prove a point to some of those young college or high school players looking to make the quickest jump they can to the NBA. Remember, Roy stayed in collge all four years, won a PAC-10 Player of the Year award and entered the NBA at the very mature age of 22.
Lastly, a little shout out to Lardell! Make sure you lock that front door!
