Top 25 NBA Basketball Blogs: March 2008

The rankings are finally complete! We have been looking at a solid way to do this for quite some time now and think we've found a formula that should stick. Of course tweaking is always a part of any ranking system, but we are satisfied with our first edition.

Le Basketbawl's Top 25 NBA Basketball Blog Rankings will be released on a monthly basis with updates accordingly. The ranking system was based on 4 factors: the blog's BallHype ranking converted into a score from 1-10 (10 being the highest), the blog's Technorati ranking converted into a score from 1-10 (10 being the highest), the blog's Google PageRank, and the blog's Alexa ranking converted into a score from 1-10 (10 being the highest). If two blogs have equal scores, a tie-breaker was decided based on their Technorati E-Money Value.

You will notice a few blogs missing from the list such as Ball Don't Lie, Indy Cornrows, Hornets247, and Brewhoop. We were unable to track the Technorati stats for these blogs and my guess is they are not subscribed to the service. Of course if we had found Technorati stats for them, they most likely would have appeared on this list.

Ya, I know how you feel, Carolyn. :p

Good job compiling the stats, Kellex.

Now where's that Technorati link...

Awesome... very well done!

Interesting stuff. Most of the blogs are the big names you expect to be there, but I was happily surprised to see 3rd Quarter Collapse there. Good for Ben Q. I had no idea he was hanging with the big dogs like that!

How the hell did Red's Army get a negative score?

Thanks for the heads up, Kellex, and very cool way to aggregate the data. I've now finally set up my Technorati account :)

It is very simple: Perkisabeast.com

All other blogs are written by suckers and suckups

Jeff Clark blogs about the Celtics from Virginia. Now there's stupid and there's his ranking on your list.

You should use Technorati's Authority Rankings which looks at links from the past six months. The Ranking, as far as I know, looks at links all-time. You're giving advantage to older blogs.

Whops. Take back that last comment. Ranking with Technorati is a perfectly cool way to measure a blog's linkage.

Great list!

Neat idea for a column. There's some real well written blogs on the list, Need4Sheed is on the list too. (j/k?)

Odenized sits at #32 on the list right now :)

Only because you are so new and lack a Google pagerank. I'm in the same boat being so new I'm coming in at #28 lacking again that damn Google pagerank.

With time we'll be there!

Ballhype hates GMTR for some reason, it’s kind of frustrating. But I’m in awe that we came in at #25 on your list. I’ve always considered GMTR a small fish in a small pond, so to be listed with the big names like that, I feel like we owe you some money. The check is in the mail.
