Are you kidding me: Laker Legs?

This will be the first installment of what will be a weekly blog titled “Are you kidding me?” When you see that ridiculous moment or article or quote or picture from anything that makes you say “are you (expletive) kidding me?” that is what you will find here. Hope you enjoy!

Are you kidding me?!?! That is exactly what we saw Sunday night from the Los Angeles Lakers. How could you not help but just shake your damn head last night and laugh! The Lakers vs. Celtics match up brought back one of the NBA’s classic rivalries as well as some horrendous throwbacks. The Celtics kept it new/old school but those Lakers decided to take it one step further bringing you this. (Getty Images)

OOF! Those shorts were soooooo short, you had visuals of every players’ cute little spandex tights, knee braces, and missing hair patches! Did anyone see bionic man…err…Trevor Ariza? Poor Kareem. (Getty Images)

Kobe goes 6-25 and 0-6 from beyond the arc. Andrew Bynum was a whopping 2-2 in a non-existent 22 minutes. The Celtics actually built a 25 point lead at one point in what was a complete rout from the opening tip. On a positive note, the Lakers did manage to slide out of those cute little daisy dukes and into their normal shorts at half time without any serious injuries.

Maybe a game with this much importance against your east coast rival and the NBA’s best team should have been taken a little more serious. Oh well! We still had a ton of fun laughing at Derek Fisher’s legs and the wonderful 80’s music blared into the Staples Center! Cirque de Lakeshow was quite the spectacle last night. Happy New Year! Oh what a year!

What better way to end the year than with a quick look back at this past year in the NBA. And what better way to take that look than through some video! Here are a few video clips that stand out to me from the last year:

12 a dozen, make it a Trail Blazer dozen!

They’ve done it! The Portland Trail Blazers have matched the second longest win streak in Blazer history at 12 wins in a row with what is currently the youngest team in the entire NBA. This is a pretty amazing feat coming from a team who was so fortunate to land the #1 draft pick in the NBA this off season only to watch that pick slip right out of their fingers and onto the injury report.

It has been a wild ride over the month of December with this young group of talent, but is this what we should expect from the rest of the season? The team is riding this unimaginable month with a 6 game home stand but will soon be followed up with a quite a challenging mid-season road trip. After Sunday’s game against the Sixers, followed by a quickie on the road to Utah, the Blazers will take 9 of 14 games in January on the road in what should make or break their season.

I can say that I’m hoping for continued success and the sooner-than-later turn around of this historic franchise from the depths of “jail” back to the land of the “rip.”

Tonight’s BOX SCORE.
